ADS BY REQUEST! Nano-Nano & Knorr Real Chinese Soup

This post is dedicated to you, ate Lanie Ablaza! Haha! :D Because you were the first person to request ads to me, I’d decided to make a new portion of my blog named Ads by Request! YAY! :D

__________

Your first request: Nano-Nano

I think I was not yet in existence when this commercial were aired on TV, but as far as my intensive research would tell, [naks!] the product, together with this ad, came out on the 90s. I was born on 1996, so most probably I was still a baby lying on my crib that time. Haha.

Ate Lanie, I have spent almost a week searching Youtube for the English Nano-Nano commercial, but nothing appeared. Since the Nano-Nano commercial itself is VERY RARE on the Internet, I decided to grab this Indonesian version instead. Sorry! :) But I think the tune of the jingle alone can bring memories… or you may also sing along to the English lyrics below! [as also provided by my intensive research!] :D

Oh Nano-Nano, it drives me crazy
I really love what it does to me
Sweet, sour, and salty
Nano-Nano, Nano-Nanooooo!

Your second request: Knorr Real Chinese Soup

Good thing you requested this one; I didn’t know that there was already Knorr Real Chinese Soup back then. When I watched the video, I myself must say – the jingle is very catchy! To you who requested this, I give you the Youtube link to this ad, and the video description says this commercial is circa early 80s. Seriously, was this ad aired for almost ten years? [if you know what I mean!]  JUST KIDDING. I cannot prove that due to lack of sources. >:D

But, one comment on the Youtube link said there was another version for this ad, aired around late 80s or early 90s. I still need to prove it, but for now I’ll post this version because, again, the video is also RARE. Capital letters intended for emphasis.

I quoted the lyrics of the jingle in your first request; why not also do it here? More fun! :)

Here’s a Chinese soup for you
Some Chinese soup
But there is nothing like
Knorr Real Chinese Soup
Knorr is one of a kind
Best Chinese soup you can find
Knorr is easy to cook
Just add one egg! (crack, gong!)
Thick and chunky and rich
Knorr Real Chinese Soup
There is nothing like
Knorr Real Chinese Soup!
Goodah!

Hope you all enjoyed the commercials in this first Ads by Request post! Thank you so much ate Lanie for requesting and initiating this portion! :D It’s a good thing if you request TV commercials to be posted here in my blog because you are also able to share your favorite commercials to me and the other readers. :)

Now, do you want to make a request? You may comment in my About page or contact me on Facebook, Twitter, or e-mail me at irishgail_santiago@yahoo.com . If you can include infos or personal thoughts about your favorite ads, it is much better! Thank you! :)

Coca-Cola’s global ad campaign: “I Wish”

Okay, my name is Irish, and you can call me iWish! Haha. :D I decided to post about this first before the other global ad campaigns by Coke because of two reasons: (1) the ad’s name looks like my nickname;  and (2) I hate to post too old commercials [those from the years when I was not yet in existence] during nighttime. They will haunt my mind, making me not to sleep! Too silly me!

As stated on the title, this was a “global ad campaign”, it means that this ad was made in different multilingual versions. But according to my research, I only found three versions of this ad – English, Spanish, and Filipino. I will have a different approach this time – I won’t include any explanations before each ad, except the last one. Therefore, you must watch the ads first to familiarize yourselves! Besides, I do not know any information about the English and Spanish versions because I just discovered them some time ago. Enjoy! :)

__________

To get started, I will first show to you the English and the original version!

Coca-Cola – I Wish – English Version

Have you seen a clue? Or a sneak peek of what the Filipino version looks like? :) Let’s take one more shot by viewing the Spanish version!

Coca-Cola – I Wish – Spanish Version

“A clue! A clue!”

HAHA! Getting close enough? Yes, you’re right – they are the equivalents of the Filipino Coke ad “Sana” by Nikki Gil! If I’m not mistaken, this commercial brought her to stardom. Am I right? :) Let’s watch it again! I think I was in grade four when this ad was aired, and I’m now in 2nd year college! O__O

Coca-Cola – I Wish – Filipino Version

__________

Now, I leave the question to you – which version is better? Leave a comment guys! And, just stay tuned on the next Coca-Cola’s global ad campaign post, if ever there will be more to come yet. :P

the ironic truth

I always enjoy having conversations about TV commercials. It seems like I have plenty of things to say because there are lots of product jingles that are still stuck in my head for a very long time. But actually, if I talk about TV commercials in real life, I sometimes get goose bumps on my skin, or even my face may blush a little bit! And the worse thing is that I CANNOT AVOID THEM! I look like a creeped-out person everytime I feel them approaching me. But I think those are just the visible effects of my nostalgia. [I hope you haven’t seen my awkward face when we talk about TVCs… I am trying soooo hard to hide it!] ;P

Okay, I admit that I have watched TV commercials that seemed creepy to me, but I still enjoy them at all! :D [What scares me more when I watch creepy commercials are those moments when that ad disturbs my mind when I sleep during the dark night! and I am the only one sleeping in my room! Hoooo!] >___<

spotlight on Rejoice dance commercials

[guys, i am not sure of their chronological order. i will only post the Rejoice commercials that I am able to remember and search in YouTube.] :)

  • Sunod sa Galaw – At around 2004 or 2005, Rejoice Shampoo (Philippines) launched its first ever ‘dance commercial’. More like a music video in format, it became an instant dance craze in Nueva Vizcaya (the province where I lived during my elementary years) because of its catchy tune and easy steps. I thought it was entitled “Sumusunod” because it is the repeatedly mentioned word in the chorus of the song, but I realized it was actually “Sunod sa Galaw”. :D [wait, where are the Jaboom Twins now?]

Rejoice – Sunod sa Galaw

  • Walang Sabit – When the fame of Sandara Park in the PH was still fresh because of her participation in Star Circle Quest, she sang for Rejoice a song entitled “Walang Sabit”. As I remember, this one was also a big hit and was as equally famous as her song “In or Out”. :)

Rejoice – Walang Sabit

  • Instant Ayos – I was also LSS’d on this song, but I cannot remember any significant event that happened during the airtime of this commercial. According to those who commented on the YouTube video (watch the vid below or on YouTube), the singer here is Mish Maravilla.

Rejoice – Instant Ayos

  • Straight na Natural – [not sure of the title!] I will almost not have been included this one here in my post because this one is very RARE and HARD TO FIND! Thanks to the uploader of the video below, or else I will have forgotten that there was actually a Rejoice commercial like this. :)

Rejoice – Straight na Natural

  • Kering-Keri – This song – performed by Kim Chiu when she was known yet as the Big Winner of PBB Teen Edition 1 – was a monster hit among the Filipino viewers. The concept is about a ‘probinsyana’ who joined in a dance contest and believes that she can make it! [kering-keri = kayang-kaya = I cannot find an accurate English word for this!] :D As of writing time, the video garnered above 2 million views – which makes her an effective endorser for Rejoice.

__________

In viewing those ads, you can see P&G’s efforts in endorsing their products. But wait – is there a most recent dance commercial yet from Rejoice? What I’m talking about are those videos that last from 2 to 3 minutes like the ads I mentioned above. But I think this ad also looks like a mini-dance commercial, but it was not released like a full MTV. Come Back to Rejoicing, still performed by Kim Chiu. :)

Rejoice – Come Back to Rejoicing

__________

The most recent Rejoice endorsers I know today are Kathryn Bernardo and Julia Montes. Did they launch at least one mini-dance commercial? I can’t remember na eh. :)

Feel free to post a comment guys! :D

the first entry

A few days ago, I was thinking of making a separate blog for my appreciation for TV commercials. Until now, I still do not know how to start this properly.

And I decided to continue this awkward introduction of my new blog.

__________

When I was on my fourth year in high school (if I’m not mistaken), a friend told me about the extraordinary Pantene commercial (see video below) about a deaf and mute girl who played her taped violin amazingly on the classical music contest (which was once broken by her rival there). After watching that, I hovered to the related videos at the right sidebar, which contains some TV commercials, and the rest is history.

Now I am proud to say that watching those good (and bad) TV ads is one of the things that I really love to do; a hobby that I would say, not that common to the people of this generation. In this blog I would want to share to you my appreciation for TV ads, and you will most probably feel a sense of nostalgia (and goosebumps!) that I also experience whenever I watch those commercials.

Every person is free to visit and comment here. Welcome to my blog. :D
